On Saturday July 9th at the Kiwanis Park in St Catharines the Niagara Junior Spears (4-1) played the Cambridge Lions(4-1)
The Junior Spears came out in the first quarter flat unable to establish a drive on offence. The Junior Spears defence played the first quarter strong and limited the Lions to any scoring chances.
The defence continue this strong play in the second quarter forcing the Lions to concede a safety, putting the Spears up 2-0. Later in the second quarter Mario Villamizar contacted with Chris Anderson for a 90 yard reception and run touchdown, Mike Domagala making the point after, making it 9-0 for the Spears. The Cambridge Lions scored with 3:34 left in the first half making it 9-7.
Niagara Spears came out in the second half running the ball and capping the drive off with a 5 yard touchdown by Trevon Demos with Mike Domagala making the extra point. Cambridge Lions came back out a couple of minutes later scoring a touchdown, making it 16-14 for the Spears.
The Junior Spears came out in the fourth quarter and scored on 3 yard rush by Dylan Smyth with Mike Domagala making the extra point. Making it 23-14 for the Junior Spears. Cambridge came back and scored a touchdown with 1:40 left in the game and converting on the 2 points to tie the game and forcing overtime.
The Junior Spears won the coin toss and took possession of the ball and scored with a 2 yard run Mack Jones and Mike Domagala kicking the extra point.
