ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Brock University women's volleyball players Rachel Roorda (St. George, Ont.) and Lauren Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) both earned OUA honours Tuesday.
Roorda, a fourth-year graduating middle blocker, closed out her Brock career being named an OUA first-team All-Star.
In her final season, she led the Badgers offense with 223.5 points adding 175 kills, 53 blocks and seven aces. She also finished with a career-best .388 hitting percentage which was second in the nation.
In her career, Roorda moved into first all-time in Brock history with 214 career blocks. She also moved into the top 10 all-time in career kills (428) and totals points (628.0).
Stirling, a first-year outside hitter, made an impressive transition in 2011-12 after being recruited as a setter out of high school.
In her freshman campaign, Stirling was named to the OUA All-Rookie team after finishing the season with 145.0 points including 115 kills, 26 blocks and 13 aces. She also collected 40 assists.
